3D Scanner

A 3D scanner creates digital 3D models of real-world objects. It does this by projecting light (like structured light or laser) onto the object's surface. A sensor then measures how the light is distorted to calculate the object's 3D shape, creating a point cloud that forms the 3D model.

3D scanners are either contact or non-contact. Non-contact scanners, which are more common, are further divided into handheld and desktop types. These scanners are used in many fields, including manufacturing (reverse engineering and quality control), medicine (custom devices), archiving (preserving artifacts), and entertainment (creating visual effects for games and films).
